The Paso Fino Horses

The Paso Fino is a naturally gaited light horse breed dating back to horses imported to the Caribbean from Spain. Pasos are prized for their smooth, natural, four-beat, lateral ambling gait. They are known for providing the smoothest ride in the world. The Paso Fino name means ‘fine step’.

There are two main breeds of Paso Fino horses. The Puerto Rican Paso Fino is prized for its fine or delicate step, while the Colombian Paso Fino tends to have more of a rapid, piston-like action.

The Paso Fino tends to be refined, standing an average of 13-14 hands but is powerful for its size. It has a convex head, clean legs and a relatively short back with prominent withers. The Paso Fino often has a thick mane and tail. This is a lively horse that has a natural drive and willingness.

It is an ideal horse for children and adults. As an adult if you suffer from back problems, this is the ideal horse for you.

Come explore this magnificent breed at Hacienda Santa Maria, located at 8712 Wellington Rd 50, Erin, ON, NOB 2KO. This is a Paso Fino horse farm dedicated to the refinement of this unique breed.
